Discord login. WATTx encrypted messaging.
Last updated 19 August 2026
These terms govern your use of Datcord, a chat client that uses Discord for sign-in and the WATTx blockchain for message delivery. By using Datcord you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use it.
Datcord signs you in through Discord's OAuth2 service, requesting only the
identify and guilds scopes. It uses that to know who you are and which
servers you belong to. Datcord does not read, send, edit or delete messages on Discord's network
on your behalf.
Messages you send through Datcord are encrypted on your device and published to the WATTx blockchain, or carried as ciphertext inside a message you post yourself.
Datcord generates an encryption key on your device. That key never leaves it, and is not transmitted to or held by anyone operating Datcord.
Anyone who obtains your key or a channel passphrase can read the messages it protects. Share passphrases only with people you intend to have that access.
Messages sent on-chain are written to a public blockchain. They are encrypted, but the fact that a transaction occurred, its timing, its size and the addresses involved are public and permanent.
Datcord Nitro is an optional subscription paid in WTX. While it is active, the Datcord treasury pays the blockchain transaction fees your messages generate, and attachments are unlocked up to the size limit of your tier.
You must not use Datcord to break the law, to harass or threaten people, to distribute malware or child sexual abuse material, or to infringe others' rights. Because Datcord cannot read your messages, enforcement is necessarily limited to what is visible to us: accounts, subscriptions and public chain activity. We may suspend a Datcord account or subscription where we have reasonable grounds to believe these terms are being broken.
You must also comply with Discord's own Terms of Service in your use of your Discord account.
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country if that is higher, matching Discord's own requirement.
Datcord is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. It depends on services we do not control — Discord, the WATTx network, and the public internet — any of which may be unavailable, change, or fail. Software of this kind can contain defects, including in its cryptography. Do not rely on Datcord where failure would cause you serious harm.
To the fullest extent the law allows, the operators of Datcord are not liable for lost messages, lost keys, lost funds, network fees, downtime, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Datcord.
These terms may be updated; the date above shows when. Continuing to use Datcord after a change means you accept it. You may stop using Datcord at any time. Note that stopping does not remove messages already written to the blockchain, because that is not technically possible.
Datcord is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discord Inc.
